How to login to your Saint Rose email, and more!

The College of Saint Rose offers a variety of technology services to our students including email, Blackboard, student account access (“Self Service”), and online file storage.  Sometimes it can be challenging to remember where to find these resources and how to access them.  Here is a short overview of our technology services!  For more complete instructions and information, check out the ITS Student Tech Guide.

Finding your Technology Resources
When you visit the Saint Rose homepage,, you will see a grey button in the top right corner that says ‘LOGIN’.  Clicking this button will bring you to a page where the College has gathered links to online systems together in one convenient place.  Each resource also has its own URL, listed below.)   Three of the most frequently used resources are Student Email, the Secure Site (where you manage registration, make payments, etc.) and Blackboard (where your professors will provide online resources).  Each is profiled below …

The ITS Student Tech Guide describes Blackboard as “an electronic course management system used by course instructors to enhance communication, organization and presentation in a course. Blackboard can be used for web-enhanced courses, hybrid courses, and totally web-based courses, or e-Learning courses. If your professor uses Blackboard, you should see the course link on the Courses page after logging into Blackboard. Blackboard also houses electronic resources for College offices, and College sponsored community groups.”  Blackboard can also be accessed at

Your Blackboard username and password is also used for email, lab computers, wireless network and more.   If your last name is hyphenated, the latter name will be used.

Username: Last name + first initial of your first name + last 3 digits of your student ID #.
Password: Your birthday (MMDDYY)

Student Email
The College uses Google Apps for student email services.  This gives students the ability to use Docs, Calendar, and Chat apps through their student account.  Your student email address will follow the same equation used for your Blackboard username and add to the end.  The username and password for your e-mail is the same as the Blackboard information above.  Student e-mail can also be accessed at

Secure Site
The College offers online access to student account and registration information through the Secure Site.  You may also hear this referred to as BannerWeb.  “BannerWeb allows students to view and update personal information, and perform administrative functions related to course registration, grading, transcripts, financial aid, and account status” (ITS Student Tech Guide,  p. 12).  Secure Site can also be accessed at

Your login for the Secure Site is different from that of your email and Blackboard.
User ID: Your Saint Rose ID number (9-digit)
PIN: Your birthday (MMDDYY)

Password Policy
The first time you login to your email, Blackboard, or a campus computer, you will be prompted to update your password.  There are specific complexity requirements, so read them below and be prepared when you login!

All users must have a password that includes the following elements:
1. It cannot contain significant portions of the user’s account name or full name
