The college now offers a master’s degree program in higher education leadership and administration. The program was created for students who are interested in pursuing a career as a college leader. This diverse program consists of programs such as higher education law, strategic planning, budgeting, risk management, community relations, enrollment management and effective leadership styles.
Graduates with this degree will be able to work in a wide array of career avenues such as:
- Mid-level and senior positions at colleges and universities
- State higher education agencies
- Regional accrediting agencies
- Non-governmental organizations
- Education consulting firms
Along with this new degree, the college has also added two new graduate level certificates of advanced study. Certificates are offered in organizational leadership, combining courses in the College’s M.B.A. and educational leadership programs, and in quality control for higher education, which focuses on developing skills in research, assessment, accreditation and program evaluation. Theses certificates are meant to supplement the MSED.
This new program is the base offering of the College’s new R. Mark Sullivan Institute of Higher Education Leadership. Established in 2012 and modeled after other programs at Ivy League institutions, the center will focus on all areas of college academia and administration. This new program will produce higher education leaders who will continue on towards creating strong institutions around the country.
